About the Office of Student Conduct

Purpose

The University's Office of Student Conduct is responsible for maintaining University policies and procedures governing appropriate student conduct. Under Director of Judicial Programs Tamara King, the University Judicial Board adjudicates violations of University policies; this includes all student conduct such as drug and alcohol violations, vandalism, and assaults. Severe or egregious Academic Integrity violations are also referred to the University Judicial Board.

The Director of Judicial Programs / Judicial Administrator shall:

  • Act as the primary resource and liaison to members of the University community on matters pertaining to the administration of the University's Student Judicial Code.
  • Advise students and others about disciplinary options for addressing problems resulting from student behavior within the University.
  • Serve as a resource for dispute resolution for situations involving students, which may not occur in the university community.
  • Hear, investigate, and rule upon complaints alleging violation of the University Judicial Code, as well as impose sanctions or refer case to the University Judicial Board as necessary.
  • Coordinate the selection of board members to the University Judicial Board
  • Prepare written materials and provide an orientation for members of the University Judicial Board.
  • Provide administrative support to the University Judicial Board, including scheduling hearings, comunicating with the parties involved and their witnesses, monitoring fulfillment of sanctions, and maintaining records in a confidential and secure manner.
  • Communicate regularly with academic and administrative offices, particularly with the General Counsel's Office and the University Police, on matters pertaining to student judicial affairs.
  • Design programs and publications to educate students, faculty, and staff about the University Judicial Code and the consequenses for violating the Code.
  • Annually coordinate a review of the Judicial Code and implement changes as necessary.
